Historical Method

First of all, historians gather a verity of sources. These sources are called primary and secondary sources. Primary sources are ones that were written during the time of that event, while secondary sources are ones that were written after the event. After that, historians would categorized their sources into written and non written sources. Written sources are ones that are written down like for example documents, speeches, letters and many more. Non-written sources are ones that aren't written down. There are only 5 big examples of these, which are artifacts, monuments, tombs, oral traditions and fossils. As they finish that part, they need to evaluate  their sources, with the following questions:
  • who
  • what
  • where
  • when
  • why
When they finish that step, they interpret their information. With those steps historians can make theories, and sometimes even facts. Then they go to other historians and share their findings and theories.
